IRC Published:
"Descriptive Glossary of Insurance Terms" Covering 1527 Words with Persian Alphabetic List
List Given the advancement of insurance operations, the public, insurance industry, and policyholders need to be acquainted with insurance terms and their explanations. Thus, IRC in order to meet such need has recently published "Descriptive Glossary of Insurance Terms".

Insurance is an interdisciplinary body of knowledge that borrows from various scientific fields including mathematics, statistics, economy, finance, and law as its baseline and medicine, technology and other fields as its periphery subjects of focus. Therefore, it is necessary that industry activists to be well-informed about its varying subjects, terms, and terminologies that often enter into insurance industry from other sectors. At the same time, it deems indispensable for the insurance community to have a good command of some terminologies that must be explained more extensively.

However, any field of knowledge has its own jargons – agreed upon words, terms, and terminologies that are used for the ease of communication among the community of their users. These words are like signs and formula in mathematics that technicians quickly understand and in the exchanges among the experts in that particular field of knowledge, there is no need for their explanation. Insurance as a branch of knowledge is not excluded from such rule and it was this impression that inspired the author of the book to comprehensively explain terms in his book to those interested in the field.

Classified as a general book, the Descriptive Glossary of Insurance Terms is authored by Dr. Gholamhossein Jabbari. Formerly, the book was publicly accessible at IRC's website, however, with an extensive revision in some of its words, now with 1527 terms including a Persian alphabetic list, is published and this will greatly help insurance users, students, and the other interested people.

In compiling the glossary, in addition to IRC's online Compendium of Insurance Terms, other Persian sources were used. The choice of words and their descriptions required some mainly English sources. Thus, in order to meet such requirement, the glossary compiled by London's Lloyd's and a bilingual descriptive glossary of English and French published by Insurance Institute at Quebec, Canada were used.
