Research Update: Auto Loss Assessment and Payment Procedures under Scrutiny

The results of a research project entitled “Analysis and Review of Auto Loss Assessment and Payment Procedures” were discussed in a professional forum attended by industry activists, IRC Research Deputy and some of the relevant experts and directors.

As another one in CII recommended research project series, the study was aimed at reviewing the auto loss adjustment and loss payment procedures in the insurance companies and comparatively analyzing relevant rules and regulations in Iran and selected countries, according to PRIAO.

The objectives of this applied research are as follows:

- Identification and examination of the loss assessment and payment procedures in auto insurances in Iran
- Inquiry into the rules and regulations related to loss assessment and payment in auto insurances in selected countries
- Identification of the effective factors in policyholder satisfaction in such procedures
- Proposing a model designed based on these factors

Initially, the study reviews the relevant regulations related to auto insurances in Iran. Then, it compares the relevant rules pertaining to the loss assessment and payment in auto insurances in select countries with those in Iran. The dissatisfactions arising from any factor in these procedures are used to propose an optimal model in loss assessment and payment in auto insurances.

The study is conducted by Property and Casualty (Non-life) Insurance Research Group and will appear in the IRC's Persian website as soon as the complete report is available.
